Hello 2008. Time really does fly.
This cult TV programme is an absolute New Years Eve (= Silvester) classic in Germany. Everyone watches this every year since like 1960. And it's still hysterical !

Song of the day:
"Envy - All That's Left Has Gone To Sleep"Click Here
Envy, a brilliant band from Japan. I don't think I know any other japanese music, that's so sad...
I finally saw D.E.B.S. and it's great fun I have to say, Angela Robinson is awsome.
Alien Vs Predator 2 on the other hand is the hugest pile of bullshit I watched this year. I walked out after 30 minutes which I never do. I even watched Enchanted till the bitter end, and that was painful too. But no, I hate nothing more than movies that pretend to be scary with music and editing but really are not. I drank 2 coffees and still almost fell asleep ! Next time I'll go see a movie it's gonna be The Golden Compass for the 3rd time, at least there it's a what-you-see-is-what-you get kinda deal.
Anyway, I'm not in the mood to do anything on new year's eve, but I guess I'll meet some friends in a hookah bar and watch the fireworks from the castle later. But the empasis is on 'meeting friends', lol. It's weird, all the holidays have been so anti-climactic for me this year. So dear reader, HAPPY NEW YEAR !
I love this man !!

"I Am Ghost - We Are Always Searching"
I survived my presentation. 'Beowulf' is an entertaining film. My cell phone is broken. And my mp3-player got stolen. My luck is legendary by now. *sigh*

"John Lardiari - Forever And A Day (live acoustic)"
Oh my god, I have to give a presentation on thursday (Thurrrrrsday, Ab Fab anyone ?!). I think I'm gonna die, I'm so not prepared. I even dreamed about it last night and I usually never dream about my real life stuff. SO I guess it's pretty bad.... aaah I shouldn't be blogging right now, I gotta work, work, work !!

Song of the day:
"Taking Back Sunday - A Decade Under The Influence"Click Here
Is it just me or do the great passages of emo songs always come in after the bridge ?!
Did I mention that one of my colleagues is called Mrs van Dyke ?! If she wasn't so old and annoying we could probably have a good laugh about it. :P
So I watched several movies cause, duh, I can. Stardust for example totally surprised me, I went in, expecting nothing at all and I had a really good time - after the 'what the fuck?' during the first 10 minutes passed. In a nutshell: it's a sweet funny movie with some famous people. It was good to see Robert De Niro in a lighter role.
Operation: Kingdom on the other hand left me with mixed feelings. I don't like stories that are about terrorism from the american point of view. But the ending showed the vicious cycle of all the hate, that moved me (I'm such a sap). In addition my conviction that sunglasses create distance and make people seem arrogant, rude and uncaring was reaffirmed. Makes me really uncomfortable. Plus I think it's a bad choice for an acting performance anyway, cause eyes are so important.

Song of the day:
"Tegan & Sara - More For Me(acoustic)"Click Here
Let me recap my week:
* I got bitten by a german shepherd. Now my ass has a vampiric looking bitemark
* I worked my bitten ass of but still have no money *tear*
* I almost made it to an Apocalyptica concert but me and my friends changed plans and went to an archaeologist party instead. Sounds lame but it was fun. But I'm sure we were missing out with the concert ! They are just so GOOD!!
* On the downside, some kid puked all over the place during "Ratatouille" in the cinema. Twice.

Song of the Day:
NoFX - Idiot Son Of An Asshole Click Here
Not all germans are/talk like that, mind you. Only bavarians. :p
I read recently that children laugh 400 times a day and adults only 15 times on the average. That is such a shame !!! So think of something funny today ! It's good for your health too.
So tonight I'm going to Berlin for the first time in my life. One of those uni trips again, so I don't expect to see much of the city. But it should be fun, all my friends are going too.
People are so funny sometimes, I hope that some of these are ironic (I'm never ever gonna get over them, lol). Humor hides around every corner. Or I'm just being stupid and no one besides me thinks it's funny...

Song of the day:
"Staind - Me"
Oh , my life couldn't suck more right now. I don't know what I've done wrong to get so much bad karma all at once. Or maybe I'm just not used to it. I can't even remember when it all started, I tend to suppress it when shit happens. But the main problem would be that I'm absolutely broke. Jobless and for whatever reason without student fundings. I don't know if I can pay the rent this month and eating rice all the time doesn't help my mood either. Next thing: my phone stopped working, so now I have to use my cellphone all the time. I'm looking forward to that bill.
Then - I drove home from the gym yesterday night - I was taken into "temporal custody to confirm my identity" or whatever it's called cause I drove past the police on my bike without lights and I didn't have my ID with me. So then, after they took me to my apartment and back to the street again I had to walk back home. And I passed several posters that said 'I enjoy walking'. That's when I started to suspect a huge fucking cosmic ironic conspiracy.
Then this morning I had to take some papers to printing for a friend of mine cause she got sick. As soon as I walked out the door it started pouring. And I couldn't take the bus cause I don't have a semester ticket because - I don't have money.
So when I reached the university building my 2 jackets were drenched and my shoes were swimming. After I hurried through all this bureaucracy bullshit I went to an ATM to check if maybe I got my loan for october after all. Of course I did not. And as I rode my bike back through the rain I tried to pass the rails of the tram. Emphasis on 'tried' cause I slipped and slammed on the ground. All I could think of was how unbelievable this all was. For a brief moment this weird helpless sensation overcame me and I just wanted to give up. But after lying there for a few seconds I got up and continued my way home. Listening to Staind (probably not the best choice when you have a shit day) and crying silenty for a couple of minutes.
And last but not least, when I left the house again later that day I noticed that the bike has a flat tire now. Fucking perfect. I hope I can fix it myself cause I sure as hell can't have it fixed in a shop.
So I wonder what tomorrow has in store for me. I can't think of a lot of ways for it to get any worse. Well it's a national holiday so it's gonna be rather quiet. At least I feel better now after writing it down.

This is my worst week this year stress-wise cause I'm so busy with beaurocracy stuff and all. Now that the semester is over a lot of my friends are moving away and I get new room mates. :(
Plus, on Sunday I'll leave for an excavation for 4 weeks and I haven't even packed yet. Well well.
But it's also one best weeks because I got to see Damien Rice on Tuesday !!! It was awesome. I love it when you can really feel the music. My friend thought the bass was too heavy but whatever, lol.
My favourite part was when he went from the crescendo of "I Remember" into "Bang Bang" by Cher and then back to "I Remember" again. That was nice and kind of funny (although no one else was laughing...hmm). And I realized how much of an emotional impact a good light show can have along with the music.
Damien Rice: Coconut Skins
Damien Rice: 9 Crimes
And this was hilarious as well (the clip is not from 'my' concert though):
Yeah, I just wanted to post this before I will be internet-less for 4 WEEKS . I can't grasp that, lol. And I have to hurry up cause tonight I will see Pink at a FREE open air concert. Yaaaayyy.

Song of the day:
"Linkin Park - Hands Held High"
They stole the song title from my blog !!! No seriously, I think it's good and important that a band as successful and influential as Linkin Park writes a song about the senselessness of war. And that wars are initiated and maintained by the people who get benefits out of it, not by the actual humans who end up being the victims.

Song of the day:
"Underoath: Alone In December"Click Here
Okay, I'm back to blogging... A couple of days ago I came back from my university trip to Copenhagen. A 13 hour train ride, that was quite an experience but I got to know some fellow students better and we had fun!

Copenhagen in short: Nice architecture, good weather, chocolate milk in badass looking cans, expensive food and pretty blonde people all over the place. Quite depressing actually, lol. Unfortunately I couldn't walk around much since we spend all day in various museums, mainly the Glyptotek.

We walked around all day, my feet hurt like hell !! But it was really interesting and it brought a little motivation back to me.

Other than that, I passed my oral exam in archaeology. I nearly had a heart attack but it turned out alright. I didn't study much at all, I think it was just my über-ego giving me a major bad conscience... And -since that horror stress week before the test- I started drinking coffee. Another nail to my coffin.
And a Dresden Dolls CD I order arrived yesterday, woohoo !!
